New Year, New Opportunities
2013 was another banner year of new opportunities for Compassion Hospice – besides helping a growing number of Southeast Texans during this important time, we provided $150,000 in free care to the area’s needy, grew the number of Southeast Texans employed by Compassion Hospice by 50%, AND had a great color run fundraiser featuring Southeast Texas’ own Kree Harrison, all while focusing on providing a world-class hospice experience for our friends, families and loved ones. 2014 promises to be even better as we move into new facilities to accommodate our growing team – look for construction to begin soon on Eastex Freeway next to Cathedral In the Pines. Bereavement Groups – 2012
We at Compassion Hospice know what it’s like to experience the pain associated with the loss of a loved one. Our goal is to meet you where you are in your grief process. Whether it’s a recent loss or one that happened many years ago, we want you to know that you are not alone. FREE and OPEN to the public, our groups are led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Professional Counselor, both with many years of grief counseling experience. Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers to help with various duties at Compassion Hospice. Being a volunteer means that you give of your time in order to help others in need. Volunteer activities range from sitting with patients for shorts amount of time to allow the caregiver to have a break, making things such as baked goods or sewing, offering to clean the home of some of our patients who may need additional assistance with day to day chores with the help of a company like these medical office cleaning services, answering phones, or simply helping with fundraisers and other community activities, while a few others are donating items like clothes and sanitary…

Upcoming Holiday Activities
We have a number of holiday activities coming up soon. We’ll be at the Barnes and Nobles on Dowlen Road for the next several Friday afternoons with a few other local nonprofit organizations assisting with wrapping gifts and sharing Christmas spirit – if you’re in the area and doing some holiday shopping, stop by and visit with us! We’ve scheduled our annual memorial service and Tree of Lights Celebration for Thursday evening December 16th – we’ll begin gathering at 5pm and celebrate the lives of our patients and the Tree of Lights from 5:30-6:30.
